There is no denying that women are cellulite-conscious today. Some even get depressed and simply become a recluse because they no longer want to go in public due to cellulite. If you are among those women who are trying to find a way to effectively get rid of cellulite, then you are not alone in your quest.
One physician’s assistant, J. Petrychi, who resides in Queen’s New York, is one good example. When she was still a teenager, she already had issues with cellulite. She could vividly remember her 12-year old days where she would go out with friends to the beach, and they would show some skin, flawless at that, while she would see dimples on hers. As she grew older, her cellulite problem worsened. She exercised a lot just to get rid of cellulites but somehow exercise didn’t work for her.
According to Petrychi, she would often wear long shorts just to hide her thighs. Whenever she would wear a skirt, it would always reach up to her knee.
In 2010, she turned to the Juva Skin and Laser Center in New York City and there she met Dr. Bruce Katz, the director of the center. He introduced Petrychi to Cellulaze, which was considered as the first one-time laser treatment that would get rid of cellulite. It’s also the first of its kind approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to Dr. Katz, it is the first time that a laser, which treats the 3 different components of cellulite, is available. Cellulite happens when the collagen bands found under the skin are pulled down, which results to the fats being pushed up, causing the “orange peel” or “dimpled” appearance of cellulite on the skin.
With Cellulaze, a laser is threaded under the skin, which is the one that breaks the collagen, smoothing out the skin’s appearance in a single session. The laser also splits into two directions, which is in itself a first. One procedure would last for approximately 45 minutes, and patients can go home right after with the least bit of swelling.
The doctor said that results could last, at the very least, for two years, and could even improve. Katz said that if the cellulite didn’t come back for 2 years, then it is most likely “gone for good.”
For Petrychi, the treatment meant not having to wear long skirts and shorts anymore. It meant giving her a much better life.
